The Pros:Very comfortable when worn properly over both shoulders. Fairly lightweight design won't add too much to a heavy load. Laptop compartment is very well padded.
The Cons:Daisy chain is too short to be useful. Pockets in the secondary storage compartment are pretty flimsy.
The Surge backpack is a mid-range daypack from the North Face, with laptop users in mind. It features a large main compartment with a laptop sleeve that fits most 17" laptops. It has a mesh padded back panel and a bottom pocket to store a power cord.

The sides feature stretchable water bottle pockets and the front has a daisy-chain canvas strap. The back panel uses an ergonomic "back-saver" design for sustained periods of use. This pac is available in three colors and has a total volume of 35 litres.
