I'm not a plastic bag by Anya Hindmarch
$15.00
Released July, 2007
The Pros:Cotton bag is better than plastic. Rope-like handles. Makes it fashionable to save the environment.
The Cons:$15 is expensive for a reusable grocery bag. Pretentious.
It's hard to deny that a bag with the title "I'm not a plastic bag" strewn across the body is making a statement, and if you're a follower of the eco-movement at all, it's pretty clear. Plastic bags have become the new 'it' cause in the green-friendly world and Anya Hindmarch, a UK based fashion designer created the bag to help promote the cause.
Since its initial launch it has since become a favorite among celebrities and fashionistas alike. Once the bags were available to the public the phenomenon began with riot police called in at a sale in Taiwan and the same type of frenzy in New York City where 20,000 sold-out in a matter of minutes.
Dimensions: W - 36 inches x H - 34 inches x D - 20 inches, made from high-quality cotton
The effect of plastic bags on the environment is becoming more clear, as their effect on landfill sites continue to rise and have been said to take at least 500 years to biodegrade. Because of this environmental hazard, countries are beginning to take notice and many have imposed restrictions on the plastic bag including taxation, forced recycling and even outright banning.
